How to Use and Care for Your Candle Safely for Optimal Scent and Longevity
At The Candle Suite, we want you to enjoy the best candle experience possible. Follow these tips to safely use and care for your candles, ensuring maximum scent throw and a long-lasting burn.
How to Use Your Candle Safely:
-
Trim the Wick: Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch . This helps prevent a large, flickering flame, reduces soot, and ensures an even burn.
-
Place in a Safe Area: Always burn your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface. Keep it away from drafts, fabrics, and anything that could catch fire. Never leave a candle burning unattended.
-
Keep Away from Children and Pets: To avoid accidents, place candles out of reach of children and pets.
-
Burn in Well-Ventilated Rooms: For the best scent throw, burn your candle in a well-ventilated area. This allows the fragrance to disperse evenly throughout the room.
-
Burn for 3–4 Hours at a Time: On your first burn, allow the candle to burn for 3–4 hours to ensure the wax melts evenly across the surface. Avoid burning for longer than 4 hours in one go, and always let the candle cool completely before relighting it.
How to Care for Your Candle:
-
Regular Wick Trimming: After each use, trim the wick to 1/4 inch to prevent soot build up and ensure the candle burns cleanly and evenly. This is especially important for candles with wood wicks.
-
Let the Wax Pool Evenly: The first time you light your candle, allow the wax to melt across the entire surface to avoid "tunnelling." This helps your candle burn evenly for the rest of its life.
- Avoid burning your candle all the way to the bottom of the vessel. The final burn should be stopped when only a small pool of wax remains
-
Store Properly: When not in use, keep your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the scent and prevent the wax from discolouring or becoming soft.
-
Clean the Container: Once your candle has burned down, clean the container with warm soapy water before repurposing it. Leftover wax can be removed by placing the container in the freezer and gently scraping off the hardened wax.
-
Burning Tip: If the candle's scent begins to fade, make sure it hasn’t formed a thick layer of soot on the wick. Clean the wick and relight for a fresh, strong fragrance.
By following these simple steps, you can maximize your candle’s scent throw, ensure an even burn, and extend its life, so you get the most out of every beautiful scent The Candle Suite has to offer.
